The best shows, the best atmosphere, the best people ever. This place you can't be sad in. As soon as you walk in the doors you become alive! If your lgbtq or an ally this IS your element. Drinks so good. I've never ordered food any of the times I've been there so can't speak for it. They also have a seperate dance bar so fun. I also got to meet Myki Meeks and it was an unforgettable night!
both of the bigger sized security guards at the front SPECIFICALLY the one who was putting wrist bands on last night are very rude. Genuinely made me want to turn around and walk right back out like the rudeness and yelling over nothing was absolutely ridiculous… it wasn’t busy at all nobody was holding up any sort of line by taking a few seconds to put their id back in their purse. not a fan of the music the dj played but it’s just not my vibe, only thing here i enjoy is the drag shows which i can always support other than that i don’t enjoy this bar it’s gotten worse over the years i would like to see it improve. maybe start with friendlier staff.
Play in Louisville was THE place to bring in the New Year — an absolute vibe from start to finish. The energy was electric, the crowd was fun and welcoming, and the atmosphere screamed celebration in the best way possible. 🎉💃🏽 From the moment you walk in, you know you’re somewhere special. The music was on point, the performances were iconic, and the whole space felt alive — like everyone there was ready to leave last year behind and step into the new one with confidence, joy, and a little extra sparkle. ✨🔥 What truly makes Play stand out is the sense of community. It’s bold, inclusive, unapologetically fun, and a place where you can fully be yourself while having the time of your life. If you’re looking for a night out that delivers nonstop energy, incredible vibes, and unforgettable memories — especially for a celebration like New Year’s — Play delivers every single time. 10/10 recommend. Louisville nightlife doesn’t get better than this. 🥂🌈✨
Killed it last Friday with Katya in town. Loved my bartender, loved the staff and the place was electric. Was it packed? Yes. The staff handled it well and were accommodating in every way they could be. Big names in Drag mean big crowds just gotta be patient. I’ll be back for sure and I cannot wait!
I love Play Louisville, and the staff work so hard and do their jobs so well. IDK who's in charge of capacity/ticket limits but I went to see Katya there recently ... it seemed dangerous. I know famous drag queens are popular and drive crowds. But my group was struggling to stay out of the employee area/kitchen/ behind the bar. Crowd so thick we couldnt get out. Staff couldn't move. It was Walking Dead levels, shoulder to shoulder, and it was giving Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire. Literally could not cross the room. It looked like public transit in some parts of China. If there was a fire or emergency, I don't know how many people would have a hope of getting out. I got my tickets months ago, was so excited to see my favorite queen, and the crowd was so huge and so loud that for Katya's first show I barely heard a word of it, and saw almost nothing. What's the point?
