Spent time here with a friend who started with a cocktail; I had a basic beer. First round: $24. Then, with additional drinks (no cocktails), the beers magically became $12 apiece. If cocktails and beers are the same price, advertise them as such. With no written menu, it was impossible to understand the pricing structure, and $12 for a basic beer came as quite a surprise. The pricing felt less like a system and more like something being made up on the fly. I take no pleasure in leaving a negative review for a community bar, but this is not a good look.

The Boiler Room is one of those classic NYC spots that feels unapologetically authentic. No pretentiousness, no gimmicks — just strong drinks, good music, and a laid-back crowd. The atmosphere has that gritty East Village charm that’s getting harder to find in Manhattan. Perfect place to start or end a night out with friends. If you like dive bars with personality, this place is worth checking out.

Swung by here for a quick drink recently after work. Hadn’t been to the new location- glad to see it’s the same vibe! Shane the bartender was lovely- attentive, quick, friendly and nice to banter with. Will definitely be back next time in the east village!

Very friendly barista, sort of run of the mill gay dive bar energy w/ pool tables and the like. Cheap drinks. My only complaint was that 1) they didn’t have readily accessible water and 2) the water that I did get tasted moldy/awful. Essentially, I had to ask the bartender who was fairly busy for water because their wasn’t a public cooler. When I eventually got his attention, he was worried the establishment was out of cups and I was only able to get water thanks to a random empty glass he found and cleaned. However, the water from the spout tasted…horrible…stale and sour. One of the friends I came with said that his vodka soda also tasted bad. Anyways, no knock to the staff but I think this place should check their soda dispensers/fountain system.

Ordered two shots. My first order of the night. Bartender just had to open his mouth and say "ever heard about tipping". You know, I would've Ordered more drinks, since its the beginning of the night. But saying that in a very disrespectful tone, A customer would leave. I left of course after that. As the owner, you would evaluate your workers. As it won't bring more business. I dont know what it was, but saying that was off putting. In the first place, glad I didn't tip. Be more humble. I always tip, you didn't deserve it in that case.
